SUBGRADE IQ

Infrastructure Decisions Shouldn’t Start with Guesswork

Underground construction represents one of the largest financial risk variables in infrastructure development, yet it remains one of the least understood.

SUBGRADE IQ was created to change that.

SUBGRADE IQ is not a mapping tool.
It is a pre-construction intelligence platform built to bring clarity to what lies beneath the surface before contracts are signed, equipment is mobilized, or capital is deployed.

A New Category: Subsurface Intelligence

For decades, infrastructure planning has relied on assumptions.

Utility developers, fiber operators, municipalities, and underground contractors have estimated soil conditions based on historical experience, regional assumptions, or costly exploratory work. When those assumptions are wrong, the project absorbs the consequences:

  • Change orders

  • Production slowdowns

  • Equipment/tooling mismatches

  • Budget overruns

  • Margin erosion

SUBGRADE IQ minimizes assumption from the equation.

By combining route geometry with authoritative soil and geotechnical datasets, SUBGRADE IQ transforms the data into corridor-specific, decision-ready intelligence.

How It Works

Upload a route file (KML, or KMZ).

SUBGRADE IQ builds a buffered analysis corridor and applies advanced analytical interpretation across all available authoritative soil and geotechnical datasets. The platform delivers corridor intelligence about likely soil conditions, geotechnical constraints, and risk zones along the build path. The platform will then produce a downloadable KMZ with all of the available data for the user defined corridor.

Instead of reacting to soil conditions in the field, infrastructure teams can now anticipate and verify subsurface conditions during planning.

Built by Operators, for Operators

SUBGRADE IQ was founded by professionals who have spent decades planning and executing thousands of miles of underground infrastructure projects.

Our team has seen firsthand how unknown subsurface conditions derail budgets and compress margins. We’ve negotiated contracts where soil assumptions defined risk allocation. We’ve watched production models collapse because the ground conditions were misjudged.

With the advancement of artificial intelligence, we recognized that this problem was solvable.

SUBGRADE IQ is the result.

What SUBGRADE IQ Enables

SUBGRADE IQ equips infrastructure teams to:

  • Anticipate soil transitions before construction begins

  • Identify high-risk zones along any route

  • Align equipment/tooling selection with subsurface realities

  • Model production rates with greater precision

  • Reduce contingency padding

  • Protect capital and margins

Why It Matters

Subsurface conditions control how a project is built, from trench strategy and bore feasibility to production rates and total capital expenditures.

Knowing soil composition isn’t just engineering data, it’s financial data.
